Long lasting ice melting performance
Ice Melt granules are coated with MG-104, an ice breaker that triggers powerful synergistic action. The result is long-term melting power beyond the ability of each ingredient individually.
Apply it Once- the job's done!
Meanwhile, SSS Ice Melt keeps working - up to 2 1/2 times longer! Instead of applying calcium chloride, for example at 7:00 a.m. and again at 9:00 a.m. and again at 11:00 am. Apply SSS Ice Melt once. You save time, labor, and money.
Prevents refreezing that can harm concrete
Single ingredients like calcium chloride refreeze quickly allowing repeated freeze/thaw cycles to potentially damage concrete. But SSS Ice Melt is gentler on concrete because as it melts it forms a unique brine that breaks the bond between ice and the surface. This brine prevents refreezing in a way single ingredients can't.
No other ice melter is as friendly as SSS Ice Melt to grass, trees, concrete, and more!
Some ice melters say they won't harm vegetation when "used as recommended." But recommendations often say "avoid contact with vegetation." For good reason, calcium chloride is "hygroscopic"; it will absorb moisture. In effect, it "sucks up" water - and can burn or seriously damage vegetation. You've seen once-green vegetation near treated areas, it's not a pretty sight.
Thaw-and-refreeze cycles: The worst enemy of concrete
Any ice melter that refreezes quickly, can be a problem on concrete. What's more, studies have shown that concentrated calcium chloride and ammonium sulphate chemically attack concrete. Products containing these ingredients should be avoided. SSS Ice Melt not only provides long-term melting without refreezing, it requires no special precautions. SSS Ice Melt is non-hygroscopic - it won't absorb moisture. It's formulated to be gentle to plants. So, when used as directed, SSS Ice Melt Won't harm grass, trees, shrubs, or other vegetation. Won't damage properly air-entrained concrete drives, walks and lots. Period.
Application rates vary depending on air temperature and overall volume of snow and ice. A 50-pound bag of Ice Melter will cover approximately 820 sq. feet per bag.
50 lb. poly bags. Sold individually or by the pallet, 42 bags per pallet.
Orders for ice melter are for local customers. This product is too costly to ship outside central NY.
Manufactured with a patented process (not a simple blend):
- Puts the power of multiple ice melting ingredients on the granules for true synergistic melting power
- Melts ice below 0 degrees F
Contains MG 104:
- Helps prevent refreezing up to 2x longer than conventional ice melters
- Lowers effective freezing temperature
- Protects concrete from damage by extending the freeze/thaw cycles
Potassium chloride based:
- Won't harm concrete, plants, pets, shoes or carpet when used as directed; no slick oily residue
No need for gloves or goggles:
- Safe to handle; won't harm skin
Non-hygroscopic; does not absorb moisture:
- Won't clump in the bag; provides unlimited shelf life
Maximum ice melting action
Simple blends are merely different ingredients mixed in the bag. But SSS Ice Melt is manufactured with a custom blending process that provides synergistic action for maximum ice melting power. With SSS Ice Melt you get effective performance at temperatures below 0F/-18C.
Blue colored crystals for even application without staining surfaces
Ice Melter crystals are easy-to-see so you get an even application every time. That saves you money and helps deliver maximum ice melting performance. Plus, SSS Ice Melt won't stain carpets or floors. SSS Ice Melt is water soluble and leaves no hazardous and messy oily residue, so it cleans up easily.
Safe to handle
SSS Ice Melt won't burn or irritate the skin, so you don't need to wear any protective gear like goggles or gloves.
Concrete must be at least one year old before any ice melter is used. The reason being, concrete needs a minimum of one year to fully cure. The freeze/thaw cycles that occur in winter is stressful to new concrete. The use of an ice melter may accelerate the freeze/thaw cycles causing the concrete to sprawl and flake.
